EMU Preservation,
Together As One.
The Alternating Current Multiple Unit (A.C.M.U.) Society was formed in 2025 as the formal merger between two railway preservation groups, the Clacton Express Preservation Group and the Class 315 Preservation Society.
Our core aim is to bring unity to EMU preservation, an often overlooked corner of railway preservation. We do this by forging strategic partnerships with organisations to bring in dedicated marketing, promotion and financial support to a variety of AC EMUs.
The ACMU society is the proud owner of Class 315 No. 315856. We finance, promote and manage it's conservation and upkeep, currently based at the Llanelli and Mynd Marr Railway.
The strategic partnerships we have made so far are detailed below:
ACMU Society provides finance, restoration support and promotion for two vehicles of Class 309, No. 309624, BDTC 75965 and MBS 61928, owned by the East Anglian Railway Museum.
ACMU Society provides promotion to DTS 75972 of 309624, Owned by the Rushden, Higham and Wellingborough Railway.
ACMU provides promotion to 313121, based at the Fife Heritage Railway in Scotland.
ACMU provides promotion to Class 317, No. 317345, owned by the EARM.
More information about each vehicle and partnership is available on the "Meet The Fleet" section of the website.
